Very cool thumbnails. Lets rewind a bit and worry about the characters shape. Lets try to do some silhouette studies. The shape is the first read of the character. Desinging within the shape is very secondary. Lets worry about the shapes first. Try to do solid black and white studies of the charcter the example shown. Go with the thumbnails you like so far and do mor exploration of the silhouette.
You can show gesture, proportion, shape language ( mainly using triangles, ciricles, squares etc)
